STUDY GUIDE
A MESSAGE FROM EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
COORDINATOR DAVID BERKSON
Dear Fellow Educators,
Here is the study guide for Address Unknown. As you
review it, a few things to keep in mind:
- This study guide is
designed to help students understand the play.
For that reason, its primary focus in on world
events and cultural movements between 1932-1938,
the time frame of the play and the publication
of the book that inspired it. (There is also a
section covering events between 1919-1932).
- Many important parts of
the Holocaust occured outside of the time
framework of this play, specifically WWII, and
the creation, genocide and liberation of the
death camps. The study guide you are receiving
is 28 pages long, and does not cover those
events. I have, however, prepared a timeline
that does, and will be happy to send it to you
if you think it will be helpful. Please don't
hesitate to ask me if you need more materials of
any kind.
- You may use as little or
as much of this guide as you like. It is ready
for students to read and use, but our digital
era allows for clicking and dropping, so please
feel free.
- Please don't hesitate to
contact me if you have any questions.
Best regards,
David Berkson
